Coach Houston joins the Huntington Beach High School football program with twenty-one years coaching experience. For the past four years, Coach Houston served as the offensive coordinator at Long Beach Wilson. While at Wilson, Coach Houston’s offense set 38 school records, including most passing yards for a season, most passing touchdowns for a season, most passing yards for a game, best passing efficiency a game, and longest passing touchdown. Last year his running back rushed for over a 1,000 yards and ranked ninth in school history. Coach Houston has also coached at his alma mater, Marina High School in Huntington Beach. He graduated in 1986 and played on the 1985 Sunset League Co-Championship team and two semi-final teams in 1984 and 1985. While at Marina, he coached the offensive line, wide receivers, and quarterbacks. In addition, he coordinated the offense for 2 years. Coach Houston attended the University of Redlands (1989-1992), where he played offensive line on the 1990 NCAA Division III playoff team and the 1990 and 1991 SCIAC League championship teams. Coach Houston earned a B.S. in business and a masters degree in special education. He begins his thirteenth year teaching at Lowell Elementary School in Belmont Shore. He lives in Long Beach with his wife Karen, and three children -Hailey, Hunter, and J.T., his biggest fans! |
